SSM Health Accepting Donations
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospitals in Jefferson City and Mexico are now accepting donations of personal protective items and medical supplies, which may be available at consumer retailers, as well as cash donations.
“SSM Health wishes to express how very grateful we are for the outpouring of support from our community during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic,” said Beverly Stafford, director of the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation in Jefferson City. “Donations will be directed to the areas of greatest need as this healthcare situation unfolds. By having this flexibility, we are better able to serve the most urgent needs of our patients, staff and community during this time.”
For SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Jefferson City, please visit www.stmarysfoundationjcmo.com for more information on how to help. Or, call Beverly Stafford, St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation director, at 573-681-3743.

For safety reasons, all donated supplies should be unopened and in their original packaging. Priority needs include:
Alcohol pad wipes
Exam gloves
Goggles, face shields and safety glasses
Hand sanitizer (individual and pump bottles)
Isopropyl alcohol
N95 Medical Masks or NIOSH-certified N95 Respirators (such as painter's masks)
Protective isolation gowns
Sanitizing/bleach wipes
Thermometers (display digital or forehead models)
Although the CDC doesn’t recommend using homemade masks for COVID-19 patients, they do encourage covering the N95 respirators. A beard cover is something that can be homemade and used in this situation.
In Jefferson City, United Way of Central Missouri is collecting homemade masks, hair covers and beard covers. Help the Helpers is coordinating with those who would like to sew these items.
