NEW ORLEANS NURSES LAND IN KANSAS CITY TODAY TO SUPPORT RESEARCH MEDICAL CENTER COLLEAGUES AS COVID SURGE IMPACTS KANSAS CITY

Tulane Medical Center nurses return life-changing favor to their Kansas City sisters and brothers who volunteered their time and talent last spring as a COVID surge gripped New Orleans.

Kansas City, MO –

Last March, as the COVID surge hit New Orleans with a shocking force, nurses from HCA Midwest Health volunteered to join their colleagues on the frontlines at sister hospital Tulane Medical Center. A life-altering experience that created a powerful bond among the frontline heroes, Tulane nurses recently raised their hands to support their fellow nurses during the COVID resurgence in our region.

Lending their skills to the Research Medical Center team, the first wave of Tulane nurses will begin arriving in Kansas City this afternoon. They will start working side-by-side with their colleagues tomorrow, providing support and assistance during a healthcare crisis unprecedented in modern history that is challenging the nation. Additional nurses will be dispatched next week to Kansas City from the Big Easy.

“We are so grateful and humbled that Tulane Medical Center is providing us with additional nurses as we face a COVID surge in Kansas City,” says Research Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Ashley McClellan. “The synergy of this team effort can’t be emphasized enough — the past eight months have certainly proven that we are indeed stronger together in caring for COVID patients.”

“The sisterhood and brotherhood within HCA Midwest Health is something I take great pride in,” says Suzanne Ford Vice President, Nursing Operations. “Nursing is at the heart and soul of our organization, and watching the care, compassion and support each of our hospitals provide one another is simply incredible.”
